Linda

Linda had spent the last two years living in a sober living home. The rent became more than she could afford and she ended up sleeping in her car. The House gave Linda the opportunity to continue her journey in sobriety and to focus on her needs first. While at the House Linda ended up needing major surgery.  Like many women in her situation, she had neglected her physical health– choosing instead to support others in her life until the pain became more than she could bear. The House provided a supportive environment where she could heal after surgery and focus on recovery. Linda found a full time job while at The House and began saving for her future. The House provided a quiet workspace for Linda so that she could start a new work-from-home job, eventually earning a raise while at The House. Linda learned to budget and save while at The House. Linda graduated from the program and  moved on to her own apartment. Linda saved enough money for her first and last month’s rent,  a security deposit, and had money left over to begin to furnish her new apartment. Through the generosity of others, The House was able to provide Linda with some furniture and household items upon her graduation. Linda hopes to be a model for others in her family and wants to encourage others to take control of their own lives by putting their needs first and holding themselves accountable for their future.
