Spring Successes

We are so grateful to the many volunteers and community members who helped us raise funds and awareness to support our mission: to provide safe housing and resources to break the cycle of dependence and poverty.  Two events took place in April 2019 that showcase how amazing our community is and both are highlighted below.
.
12 Angry Men performed by 12 Impassioned Women
During the first weekend of April, women on stages across the country read a play about the power and impact one person’s voice can have on the judicial system. The goal was to have 1,000 play readings taking place nationwide totaling 12,000 voices speaking out to encourage their own communities to increase voter registration and turnout.

Women presented at community colleges, law schools, universities, high schools, community centers, and community theaters.  Forge Theatre, Phoenixville’s hidden gem located at 241 First Ave, took up the call and had 12 impassioned women perform Twelve Angry Men on April 6, 2019 in a play directed by Christa Wisneski and produced by Denise Wisneski.  The women put on an excellent show to a sold-out crowd!  It was a fun night of entertainment for all with a real purpose to educate and improve our community.  Phoenixville Women’s Outreach was honored to be chosen to be the benefactor of the event.

This photo is of Christa Wisneski and Denise Wisneski of Forge Theatre presenting Lara Graham of Phoenixville Women’s Outreach with a check for $1500 which was raised at the performance!  We are so grateful to the Forge Theatre for supporting our mission.  Be sure to check out awesome upcoming productions at Forge Theatre on their website.

2nd Annual Shred Event
Also in April, Phoenixville Women’s Outreach hosted the 2nd Annual Shred Event outside the Kimberton Firehouse.  This event encouraged our neighbors to do some spring cleaning and invited everyone to bring any paper they wanted to shred in exchange for any size donation.  This event was a huge success with approximately 85 people stopping by to shred over 5,800 pounds!!  We were able to make $1,776 through donations and support of an anonymous sponsor.

We would like to thank all our volunteers who worked so hard to make this event and all our events so successful.

BINGO: October 5, 2019
We have been busy planning our biggest fundraiser of the year and we hope you can save the date now and join us on Saturday, October 5, 2019 for our BINGO for guys and gals.
.
In the meantime, look out for our staff and volunteers walking in the Dogwood Parade on May 18, 2019. We’ll be walking with the other local shelters and pushing beds to remind people that everyone deserves a bed and to save the date for the Phoenixville Bed Races – November 2, 2019!
